Burberry Body presents its new, fresher, Eau de Toilette

Love the original Burberry Body fragrance? Then you'll be excited to hear that the brand is releasing a new Burberry Body Eau de Toilette, a lighter version that's perfect for Singapore's hot weather. The "freshness" comes from adding crisp notes of green apple and tea to the existing scent.

Burberry's creative director Christopher Bailey says Burberry Body is "so much more than a fragrance"; it actually reflects the heritage of the brand and "all the facets that make up the Burberry world".

"We wanted to create something iconic, unique and special – placing the attitude and energy of the trench coat at the centre – connecting everything we do from music, collections, touch, scent, our stores, online platforms and communities. We are uniting all our audiences and giving them a very distinctive point of view," says Bailey.

Bailey also says that the perfume is actually "very British … sensual and feminine". "We wanted it to be light and feminine but also distinctive – something that appeals to women regardless of their age, it's more of an attitude," he says.

The original Burberry Body eau de parfum has top notes of absinthe, peach and freesia with a floral bouquet of rose absolute and iris with warm tones of sandalwood for the heart notes, while cashmeran, vanilla, amber and musk make up the base. The new eau de toilette is a lighter version with the green apple added to the peach and absinthe as top notes; tea added to the rose absolute and sandalwood heart notes and the same cashmeran, vanilla, musk and amber remain as the base notes of the scent.

To go with the "multi-faceted diamond" theme of Burberry as a whole, the bottle for Burberry Body Eau de Toilette is shaped like a jewel. "I wanted the bottle to be desirable as an object, not only because of the scent. I am always inspired by architecture and I wanted to translate the sensuality of the fragrance using these gentle rose gold and nude filters into something iconic and distinctive," says Bailey.

The advertising campaign – which you can see in the videos below – was worked on by top international photographer Mario Testino, stars Burberry girl Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and features Burberry's iconic trench coat. "The trench coat embodies the iconic qualities of the fragrance as well as the spirit and attitude of the Burberry girl," says Bailey.

"Rosie is this beautiful, sensual English rose and perfectly captures the spirit of Burberry," says Bailey. "She has this perfect balance of sensuality and confidence with humility. Burberry is part of her history and it felt perfectly natural for her to be our first Burberry Body."
