As we settle into summer most of us have vacations, celebrations and special events with friends and family where food and wine are always invited to the party. My most joyful memories consist of evenings spent drinking in scrumptious fare and great conversation.
Unfortunately along with those fabulous nights usually comes an entire morning of dragging ass. And getting older doesn’t help matters. Luckily there are some simple remedies to get rid of the day-after sludge. So go ahead and enjoy those rich foods and delicious wines.
Our bodies are mostly made up of water, so first of all, make sure you’re hydrating yourself. Put down the toxic soda and replace it with water – 64 ounces to be exact (that’s eight 8-ounce glasses for those who suck at math). Don’t scowl at me; you’ll get frown lines. If you can justify paying a few extra bucks, I recommend Penta Water because it goes through a 13-step, 11-hour filtration and purification process, and tastes purely refreshing. If you go with tap water, be sure to use a filter. Brita carries an easy-to-install filter you can pick up online, $26.
The mixture is a blend of tauring, ginseng, yerba mate, B vitamins and potassium that you add 16 ounces of water. It’s a sweet treat and gives your water an effervescent kick. The potent all-natural concoction boosts energy levels and improves mental alertness. The best part (for the more vain) it aids in weight loss by increasing the metabolism. Available at www.davidkirsch.com, $39.
The geniuses at Clarisonic developed the most incredible facial Sonic Skin Cleansing System. In just one week my skin was completely rejuvenated. The hand-held brush uses sonic frequencies of 300 movements per second to clean, soften and smooth the skin. Layers of dead cells are eradicated, leaving behind a radiant glow. The bristles are gentle, yet the massaging brush removes six times more makeup and two times more dirt and oil than regular face washing. Only takes one minute a day, and I haven’t had a breakout in weeks. Their line of cleansers works hand-in-hand with the system and are pretty fabulous: Gentle, Nourishing and Refreshing. $195.
The area around the eyes usually takes the biggest hit after a night out. And Clarisonic has the answer… Their Clarisonic Opal Sonic Infusion System is a compact, palm-sized sonic infusion device that uses 125 sonic movements per second to help reduce puffiness and fine lines around the eyes. The massaging pulses maximize the benefits of the Anti-Aging Sea Eye Serum much more effectively than applying with your finger. The results are immediate, giving you refreshed, bright eyes and smoother fine lines. $185. Both products available at www.clarisonic.com.
Enjoy the delights of summer, while looking and feeling your best!
